Symmetrical Scarecrows
Students learned about symmetry and created a symmetrical scarecrow fall drawing.

Students reviewed more symmetry and created a positive and negative jack-o'-lantern using flipping and tracing techniques.
Color Wheels
1st Graders made a color wheel beginning with the primary colors, then mixed two of them to create a new secondary color. They put the colors in the correct order, and then added more fun objects! They also learned neutral colors go in the middle.
Birch Tree Landscapes
1st Graders learned about shadows, and how artists use them to make objects look 3D. We created our own birch trees to show texture, and then painted the cool colors in the background. We sprinkled salt on the wet watercolors to create a starburst-like effect.
