One-Point Perspective Cityscapes
Students studied one-point perspective, which artists use to add depth to their drawings, and created their very own cityscapes.
Pop Art
5th graders learned about Andy Warhol, who was a famous artist from the pop art movement. During the pop art movement, artists created works to promote popular commercial culture. Then, we created our own Andy Warhol Pop Art inspired collage based on today’s pop culture icons.
Clay Animal Tiles
5th Graders combined coil and slab clay techniques to create a beautiful relief sculpture with their favorite animal. Upon completion, we explored another form of art: poetry. Students wrote a Haiku to go along with their art piece. A Haiku is a form of poetry that originates in Japan. It is a three line poem about nature, with a special number of syllables per line. This two-part project really proves our 5th graders’ creative ability!
