About Me
Hello!
My name is Troy Sundwall and I am the Physical Education/ Health Teacher here at Clintonville Elementary School!
In 2010 I began volunteering for a local Special Olympics program where I was able to meet many inspiring individuals who faced all different kinds of challenges. Despite those differences, the one thing everyone had in common was that they loved coming to practice every week and they loved seeing their teammates and coaches. It was in this environment where I developed a passion for teaching specifically in the fields of Physical and Special Education.
I graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 2016 with my Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science and a minor in School Health before continuing on to receive my Master's Degree in Special Education from Southern in the summer of 2019.
Before coming to Clintonville I spent 2 1/2 years working at Ridge Road Elementary School right here in North Haven operating in many roles including: ILS paraprofessional, Long-Term Kindergarten Substitute, and Building Substitute before leaving in December of 2018 to complete half a year as a Special Education Resource Teacher at Lincoln Bassett Community School in New Haven.
I am extremely excited to have found a home here at Clintonville Elementary School where I can continue to further develop myself as an educator while teaching our young students that we can learn more through Physical Education than just athletic skills and how to play games. Through Physical Education we can also develop teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills in an inclusive environment which can be transferred to other areas both inside and outside of school.
